Recovery

 Dear Family,

Well, Jenni and Danny left last Sunday night. It is a little lonely with them gone. We had a great time together. But, our work never goes away; so, this is our recovery week as we get ready for Mark, Melissa, Owen and Maci to arrive a week or so from now.

We've been very busy working mostly. But we grabbed a few pictures that you might find interesting.

While we were tramping around in the mid-levels one evening we found this very cool fire hydrant. We had to grab this picture.

In the subway a couple of days ago, Mom said, "Look, there's AJ". You will have to look closely at him.

A couple of days ago, we ran across this Italian graffiti artist painting the side of a building. We were among a gaggle of people watching him paint with spray cans (this is a picture of his daughter).

We went hiking Saturday on a little island quite a ways out from Hong Kong Island (you can see Victoria Harbor way out in the distance). There are only a very few people on this island with only a a couple of small noodle shops. It was beautiful and very quiet.

Here we are eating some noodles. This is Mike Allen who is a fellow attorney who works with me in the OGC. Char took the picture.

This morning (Sunday) we took our usual walk on the promenade and watched this little Sampan pick up these three guys we guess were going on a little fishing adventure.

Mom enjoying the warmth of the sun. It has finally started warming up. We got above 80 degrees today.

This is our relatively new habit during our Sunday morning walks. There are these really cool fresh orange juice making machines on our walk. So we have to stop and watch the machine cut, squeeze and make us a fresh orange juice from actual fresh oranges.

These final four pictures are of sister missionaries who have served with us in the Tsuen Wan ward where we attend church every Sunday. I have leaned on these sisters to help me sometimes in my Sunday School lessons, we've gone out to eat with them, we've participated in lessons with investigators with them, we've joined them for meals at member's homes, and have spent many Sundays together. We've gotten to know them like they are our own missionaries. Three of these four sisters are going home day after tomorrow -- they invited us to attend a mission meeting where all three spoke and bore their testimonies. Your Mom and I have a real soft spot in our hearts for these missionaries. They are good to the core. They have shown real courage and grit living here in Hong Kong, learning to speak Chinese, and working hard every day without complaint. The members here love the missionaries. They are so grateful for their willingness to give up their lives at home to serve them and the Lord here in Hong Kong. I will always consider the opportunity to work with these sisters, and other missionaries like them, one of the great blessings of our serving as senior missionaries here and in Cambodia. Sister Hawkes served in our ward for only six weeks -- but it was a joyful reunion this evening to get to see her again.

Sister Cox who is going home to Logan after serving in our ward for 9 months.

Sister Brady is going home to Kansas. She's one of the missionaries that taught Cindy.

Sister Sy is going home to the Philippines, she also taught Cindy.

I just reread Mom's letter to all of you last week. I second her feelings about all of you and home. We do love it here so very much. We continue to learn and grow every day. And we have made so many very dear friends. But we miss all of you more than you know. We only have four months left and then we will be home. We love you and pray for you multiple times a day.

Have a great Sabbath.
Mom and Dad, Pampa and Grandma
