Hey everyone, Another week has come to an end. And, as usual we have been very, very busy. Let's get right on it:
| I've been pulled into a critical project regarding one of our countries. This is me with Polly and Steve in one of the offices we've turned into a "war room". I spent a lot of time here this week. |
| Here I am playing ping pong with Paul, a Chinese table tennis coach. The whole time we were playing he was giving me instruction non-stop. We call this our ping pong diplomacy. We are attracting more and more people who want to come play every Thursday night. And now Tuesday has been added to the schedule. |
| A fun moment near our office. We were out for some lunch. |
| Our first day at the pool. |
| So Mom and I went to the "Fish Market" on Saturday. This isn't fish for eating. These are pet fish in fancy aquariums. This street was full of shop after shop after shop of fancy fish, turtles, aquariums, fish food, live insects for fish food, and all sorts of pet fish paraphernalia. This was amazing, incredible. I've never seen anything like it. So here are just a few pictures. Enjoy!! |
| Walls and walls of plastic packages full of water and fish. |
| Mini lobsters or prawns? |
This store sold nothing but chemicals and stuff for pet fish and aquariums.
| Live insects for feeding fish and turtles. Yum!! |
| And a couple of streets over from the fish street are street after street of plants and flowers. Again, shop after shop after shop -- beautiful. This is a bonsai plant shop. |
Flowers on the street.
And flowers in the shops.
| We took a ferry to one of the outer islands. No cars on this island at all -- the streets aren't wide enough. We went here with Steve and Barbara Toronto, one of the two professional attorneys who work here. Steve has been a professional lawyer living in Beijing over the last twenty years. He's been teaching me a lot. |
| Mom in one of the "streets". |
If you look carefully here you can see Hong Kong's tall buildings in the background.
These are "fire beaters", meant to be used in case of a fire in the brush on the island.
| Mom in front of a little bakery on the "street". Notice all the bikes. That is the only way to get around on this island. |
| Here we are eating some dim sum for brunch after walking around the island. You may notice that we are hot and sweaty here. It was a warm morning. |
Dinner tonight with the Hansens and the recently arrived Allens. Elder Allen will be joining Elder Hansen and me in the OGC. Heaven knows we can use the help.
Well, it is late and time for bed. So we are going to sign off. We love and miss all of you. Have a great week. We are praying for you.
