Scavenger Hunt

This truly is EFY for seniors. We were busy with activities for the senior couples all week. We all went to the temple together on Wednesday night. And then against my better judgment several of us went to Five Guys afterwards (9:00 pm) for burgers, hot dogs, fries, and shakes. We didn't get home till 11pm. What has happened to my good judgment?

This was the second time we've been to the Temple since the new changes have taken place. We love the feel and spirit of the new endowment. The stronger Christ focus has added a new dimension to me (us). We are looking forward to doing initiatory work next week. We will let you know how it goes.

The title of this post reflects our activity over the last week or so (especially yesterday) where each couple has been going out and locating certain places and activities in Hong Kong (a Scavenger hunt of sorts). The couple who put this together is now gathering the pictures from everyone for a slideshow for a party this coming Monday night (Family Night). Should be fun.

    So here we go.

Our Temple group (senior couples)

The next several pictures were taken in connection with our scavenger hunt.

We were supposed to find someone in traditional Chinese garb. So here we have a guy taking pictures of his girlfriend in her Chinese fighting clothes. She was busy doing all sorts of different poses.

Here is Mom in one of the several outdoor markets. This one on Graham Street is the oldest wet market in Hong Kong and is slowly being repurposed and taken over by development. Lots of great vegetables  and fruit and pretty much anything else you may want.

Mom with a traditional Chinese style dress.

Here is Mom headed up Pottinger Street, the oldest street in Hong Kong. It is a narrow, steep street  with only foot traffic and another great market area.

This is one of the most famous painted murals in Hong Kong. Apparently the most frequently Instagrammed picture in the city. It is quite old and depicts all of the painted windows in the accent walled city. You have to be here to appreciate this.

Mom rubbing the lion's paw and snout simultaneously. This is supposed to bring good luck. There are two of these lions just outside the HSBC Bank. They got dinged up pretty good with the fighting during WWII and had been shipped to Japan to be melted down for bullets. It was only the end of the war that saved them and got them returned to HK.

Riding upstairs in a ding ding -- one of many cable cars that run on HK island.

Riding the famous outside connected escalators (I think there are 17 interconnected escalators) that connect lower HK island with the mid-levels (uphill). Definitely on the list of to-do's for visitors.

Mom watching a fisherman at night on the wharf outside our apartment building. He brings the light you can see on the water to help attract fish. He also taps the water with the end of his orange fishing pole to help attract fish (theoretically). You can find a bunch of these fisherman outside on the wharves every night.

We have a couple of the greatest massage chairs downstairs in the workout room of our apartment building. Definitely the best part of a workout or a break at the end of the day. We love them!!

Interesting story here. This is a picture of Micky (pronounced Mikey) who works downstairs from us. He was in Salt Lake for training a couple of weeks ago and was touring Welfare Square. Cathy (my sister) who is working on Welfare Square, saw him and asked if he knew me. Sure enough, he did. So they took a picture and then he high-tailed up stairs to show me when he got back. You will need to zoom in on the picture to see Cathy better on his phone.

So that's it for this week. Mom is giving the spiritual thought for our legal office staff meeting tomorrow and then has to lead the Come Follow Me discussion for all the Senior Sisters later this week. So keep her in your prayers. We love you all.
